All the magical creatures featured in my art are deeply connected to the land I live on. I walk outside my cottage in rural Aotearoa and paint + create from what I see.
It’s my mission to remind people about their innate connection with our planet and the other beings we share it with like trees, birds, and animals.

The ongoing devastation and effects of colonisation include the extinction of over 50 of Aotearoa’s unique native bird species, not to mention butterflies, amphibians, insects and more.
Zealandia Bird Sanctuary protects and supports our birds. They are the reason I get to talk to piwakawaka over my morning tea and sing songs with tui from my kitchen window. So thank you, Zealandia!
Decolonising our sacred land
As I paint + create, inspired by my beautiful surroundings, I am also acutely aware of the loss of New Zealand’s natural wild due to colonisation. Part of the necessary decolonisation process is reinvesting into the land - replanting, protecting our native flora + fauna, and connecting more deeply with our surroundings.
